Winchester Model 1890 History
Known as the “gallery gun”, the Winchester 1890 is a slide-action repeating rifle designed by John Browning and produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The gun was first manufactured in 1890 with later serial numbers produced until 1949. The Model 180 was the second repeating slide action .22 rifle ever developed and manufactured. The 1890 proved to be the most successful repeating rimfire rifle for general all-around shooting produced by Winchester.
Very Rare Winchester 1890 Pistol .22 Short for Auction

Compass has a very rare prototype Winchester Model 1890 slide-action pistol chambered in .22 short available for auction this Saturday, October 29th! This handmade pistol was made by an employee in the custom shop at the Winchester factory. This is a truly custom piece. Other Model 1890s were manufactured as a rifle; however this specific gun was originally manufactured as a pistol. It was not cut down from a rifle.
