The Wilson Post – New husband. New career. Same great outlook on life. Stephanie Hubner chased her dreams across the country and back – and found true happiness in having a family in Wilson County.
“My parents always taught me, ‘You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take,'” she said. “I would much rather try and fail than to wake up with the regret of not knowing what could have been.”
Hubner attended Byars Dowdy Elementary through the second grade, before moving to Franklin, Kentucky. for the remainder of her “pre-college years.”
She next attended Belmont University, where she was a member of the dance team.
It was during college that she also became interested in professional cheerleading. At the age of 18 she tried out for the Tennessee Titans squad and was one of 27 young women chosen for the 2004 season.
“I have always loved performing and was involved in dance from a very young age through high school,” she said.
After two consecutive seasons cheering the the Titans, Hubner moved to Los Angeles to work on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
“Upon returning from LA, diving into a sales career, and having (my daughter) Reese, I realized how much I missed dancing,” Hubner said.
She auditioned for the Titans again and cheered through the 2012 season, serving as captain her last two years.
Hubner recently married husband, Ray, on Sept. 12, 2014.
Hubner said they are big believers in staying active.
“Ray, Reese and I love to be outside. Whether it is working in the yard, or four-wheeling or jumping on the trampoline – we are always active and soaking up the fresh air.”
She added that daughter Reese is their “world,” and that the best part of being newlyweds is waking up everyday with her “best friend and biggest supporter” by her side.
The couple met through her brother, Jon Allison.
“Ray and Jon have known each other for years through their careers with the City of Lebanon. As I heard it – though Ray tells it differently – Ray would frequent my brother’s office and ask when he was going to take me out,” Hubner remembered.
After a couple months of convincing, the couple went on a blind date with her brother and his wife, Beth.
“We had an absolute blast and life has been brighter every day since,” she said.
The Belmont grad, who worked in sales and communications for the past 8 years, has now started a new chapter in her career as well.
“I am now part of the Nashville division of Compass Auctions and Real Estate,” she said. “Along with my husband, Ray, we work to serve real estate needs for the Middle Tennessee area in addition to providing full service auction needs – live and online.”
The woman who Hubner most admires is her mom, Vickie Macri.
“She is the mom I hope to be to my daughter, the career woman I hope to become and the friend that knows me better than I even know myself.”
